It’s the time of year when we all get together with family and friends to celebrate the joy of being together and say thanks. With this post, I will suggest a few items that might be appropriate gifts to say Thank You to your Caregiver. Because of the nature of the Caregiver’s duties in your life, they really do become like family. Therefore it is very important to remember them during the holiday season. It is especially important because they may be giving up time with their own family to be your Caregiver during the Holidays.
Gift ideas can include:
- Small reuseable shopping tote bags that fold up into themselves. These can be small travel bags for personal items, foldable lunch bags, or any small generic foldable bag that zip into themselves. Oftentimes these generic foldable grocery bags are found in the checkout aisle at your grocery store. Try shopping at IKEA, com, or any store that has a good department of travel cases for these items. See the photo at the top of this post for ones I found on Amazon.com
- Small zippered containers that they can put in their purse or carrying bag. Perfect for storing cell phones, GPS devices, cameras, Medical supplies, flashlights, or small tools. These can also contain personal items, or pens and pencils, coins, or other items that often float around loosely in those bags. This zippered container holds them all together for ease of location. See the gray pouch to the left.
3. Travel games. These are small carrying bag size games that can be taken with them from home to home that can be used to entertain themselves with their patients to make life more fun.
- Magazine subscriptions. Perhaps your Caregiver has a hobby. Find out what it is and purchase a one year magazine subscription for that hobby type. These can be carried with them in a carrying bag and read while you or other patients nap, or the Caregiver has other minutes of downtime. Search for their hobby name magazine. Substitute whatever their hobby is in the hobby name Here’s an example: knitting magazines
These are just a few ideas for you. It’s easy to purchase on Amazon.com or Target.com or any of your favorite retail stores online. You don’t even have to leave home to shop. Just use the Keywords I put in BOLD above in the store search field and say “Thank You” to your Caregiver.
