In my book, “Don’t Stop the Music: Finding the Joy in Caregiving” I relate things that I learned in my 25 year journey as a Caregiver that helped me find Joy. I will occasionally share one of these ways in this blog.
Today’s hint that I learned is that I have the power to change MY thought process and my attitude about how I approach daily Caregiving issues. For example, instead of thinking “I have to do this task”, I now think “I get to do this task and provide a loving service to my Stroke Survivor.” That simple change in attitude completely changes how I feel when I’m doing my caregiving tasks. It lightens my load. My burden is less. It becomes easy to take care of another person.
When I do this, the weight of the task disappears and my journey is light and easy. It becomes joyful for me!
